Scouting America Troop 742 has a proud history of collaboration and support from several dedicated charter organizations. As of November 2024, Troop 742 has been proudly operating for 66 years and 6 months. Over these decades, Troop 742 has grown and evolved, fostering leadership, community service, and personal growth among its members. Our long-standing history is a testament to the dedication of our Scouts, leaders, and supporting charter organizations who have contributed to our sustained success and vibrant community.
Original Charter
- Boy Scouts of America officially chartered Troop 742 in May 1958.
- Since its inception, Troop 742 has been committed to fostering leadership, community service, and personal growth among its members.
- To date, our troop boasts 126 Eagle Scouts, a testament to our dedication to excellence and achievement.
Maryland Presbyterian Church
- In January 2023, the charter of Troop 742 was graciously transferred to the Maryland Presbyterian Church.
- This partnership has provided us with a stable and supportive environment to continue our scouting activities.
- The Maryland Presbyterian Church’s commitment ensures that our troop remains a vibrant part of the community, fostering values and skills in our Scouts.
Providence United Methodist Church
- Providence United Methodist Church plays a vital role by providing a Facility Use Agreement.
- Through this agreement, we are able to utilize the Scout Hall for our troop and pack meetings.
- Their ongoing support ensures that our meetings are held in a safe, welcoming, and well-equipped environment, essential for our Scouts’ development and camaraderie.
Pack 1742
- Pack 1742 rejoined Troop 742 under the charter agreement in 2022.
- This reintegration has strengthened our troop, bringing in new members and enriching our scouting programs.
- The collaboration between Troop 742 and Pack 1742 fosters a larger, more diverse community, enhancing the scouting experience for all involved.
Troop 102 Merger
- In 2023, Troop 102, originally from Towson United Methodist Church, merged with Troop 742.
- This merger has expanded our troop’s reach and resources, allowing us to offer more comprehensive programs and opportunities for our Scouts.
- The integration of Troop 102 members has brought fresh perspectives and talents, further enriching our scouting community.
