Eagle Scout Rank Application

🦅 How to Generate Your Eagle Scout Rank Application in Scoutbook

Step-by-Step Instructions for Troop 742 Life Scouts

Your Eagle Scout Rank Application must be generated through Scoutbook, not filled out manually. Scoutbook automatically pulls all your rank dates, merit badges, and leadership positions from your advancement record. Follow the steps below to create your official application.

1. Log into Scoutbook

Go to:

Use your Scouting America (formerly BSA) login credentials.

If you cannot log in, ask your parent, Scoutmaster, or the Troop 742 Advancement Chair for assistance.

2. Open Your Profile

Once logged in:

  1. Click “My Dashboard”
  2. Select “My Account”

This will display your complete Scouting advancement record.

3. Navigate to the Reports Section

In your profile:

  1. Click the “Reports” tab
  2. Scroll until you find “Eagle Application”
  3. Select it

This opens the official Eagle Scout Rank Application Generator.

4. Enter the Required Information

Scoutbook will ask for a few pieces of information that cannot be auto-filled:

a. Enter Your Date of Life Board of Review

This date appears in:

  • Your Scout Handbook, or
  • Your Scoutbook advancement record, online or printed

Enter the date exactly as it appears.

b. Enter Your Required References

On this screen, you must enter five (or six, if employed) references:

  1. Parent / Guardian
  2. Religious Leader (if not affiliated with an organized religion, then the parent or guardian provides this reference)
  3. Teacher / Educator
  4. Employer (if applicable)
  5. Two other adults
    • These may include neighbors, coaches, mentors, or Scout leaders
    • They cannot be family members

These individuals will be contacted to write confidential letters of recommendation.
Do not ask to see the letters, and do not collect them yourself.

Troop 742 letters must be mailed to:
Eagle Letters of Recommendation
c/o Troop 742 Committee Chair
3035 Moreland Avenue
Parkville, MD 21234

5. Verify Leadership and Merit Badge Records

Scoutbook will display:

  • All 21 required merit badges (14 required + 7 elective)
  • All positions of responsibility
  • All rank dates from Scout through Life

Confirm:

  • Your merit badges are listed correctly
  • Start and end dates for leadership roles are correct
  • All signatures and completion dates match your handbook and blue cards

If something is missing or incorrect, contact the Advancement Chair immediately.
