Scout Individual Advancement Record

📘 How to Generate Your Scout Individual Advancement Record in Scoutbook

Step-by-Step Instructions for Troop 742 Scouts

The Individual Advancement Record (IAR) is an essential document for your Eagle Scout binder. It shows every rank, merit badge, award, and date recorded in Scoutbook. Follow these steps to download an accurate copy.

1. Log Into Scoutbook

Go to:

Sign in using your Scouting America (formerly BSA) username and password.

If you cannot log in, contact the Troop 742 Advancement Chair or your Scoutmaster.

2. Open Your Scout Profile

Once you’re logged in:

  1. Select “My Dashboard”
  2. Click “My Account”

3. Go to the Reports Section

At the top of your profile, click:

👉 “Reports”

This section includes all advancement-related report options available for your Scoutbook record.

4. Select the “Individual Advancement Record” Report

Scroll down the list until you find:

📄 “Individual Advancement Record”
(It may also appear as “Advancement History” depending on current updates.)

Click to open the report generator.

5. Generate and Download the Report

Click:

👉 “Generate Report” or “Run Report”

Scoutbook will create a PDF containing:

  • Cub Scout ranks (if carried over)
  • Scouts BSA ranks from Scout → Life
  • All 21+ merit badges
  • Awards, training, and leadership data
  • All advancement dates on record

Once generated:

📥 Download the PDF
🖨️ Print a clean copy for your Eagle Binder

6. Review for Accuracy

Check that:

  • All merit badges appear
  • Rank dates match your handbook
  • Leadership positions are correct
  • No badges are duplicated or missing

If something is incorrect, notify the Advancement Chair immediately so it can be fixed before your Eagle Application is submitted.

7. Place the Record in Your Eagle Scout Binder

This report should be placed:

  • In a sheet protector
  • Behind your Eagle Scout Rank Application
  • Before your Eagle Project Workbook

Troop 742 recommends keeping both a printed copy and a digital backup.
